The social programme of the 27th International Congress of CIRIEC holds a number of attractions for both congress participants and companions which are sure to make your stay more agreeable. The various activities planned include discovering the famous cities of Seville and Cordova and a modern flamenco show. The welcome drinks reception on Sunday 21st and the gala dinner on Tuesday 23rd will be two great opportunities to socialise with the people from over 40 countries who are expected to attend this Congress.

MORNING
Companions: Guided tour of Cordova (with lunch)
After the opening of the 27th Congress, the buses will begin to leave the Hotel Barceló Renacimiento for one of the most-visited Spanish cities: Córdoba. A visit to the Mosque-Cathedral and the old city, to which UNESCO extended recognition as a World Heritage Site in 1994, will be followed by lunch in a castle on a mountainside in the Cordoba range, with superb views over the city. The afternoon has a tour of the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos palace and free time (or a panoramic tour) before returning to the Congress venue, the Hotel Barceló in Seville.

Flamenco Biennial festival show at the Teatro de la Maestranza
Congress members have the opportunity to attend the first night at the Teatro de la Maestranza of one of the most eagerly awaited shows in the programme of the XV Flamenco Biennial, which is taking place in Seville at the same time as the Congress. Amor Brujo will be performed on Monday, 22nd September at 8.30 p.m. by the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla and the singer Esperanza Fernández, one of the best-known flamenco vocalists of today.

MORNING
Companions: Guided tour of Seville (without lunch)
The buses will leave from the Hotel Barceló Renacimiento for a panoramic tour, including the site of the 1929 Iberoamerican Exhibition that transformed Seville so profoundly during the first quarter of the 20th century: the Parque María Luisa, one of the prettiest city parks in Europe, and the Plaza de España. This will be followed by a visit to the Cathedral, which is counted among the major works of Spanish architecture and is the largest cathedral in Spain. The Santa Cruz neighbourhood, a labyrinth of narrow streets and secluded squares scented with orange blossom, will be visited on foot. At the end of the tour, the buses will return to the Hotel Barceló.
