Introduction and aims

The Scientific Programme of the Congress is divided into 5 plenary sessions and 4 workshops on particular topics, each composed of two round table sessions. The Opening Ceremony of the Congress on Monday, 22 September will be an important event attended by prominent public figures. It will be followed by a plenary session at which the Nobel Economics Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz will give a lecture.

The workshops on the afternoon of Monday 22nd and on Tuesday 23rd are divided into round tables where specialists in the public economy, on the one hand, and in the social and cooperative economy, on the other, will discuss business innovation, sustainable development and social service delivery issues.

The Congress is structured around three axes:

1.- Plenary sessions,
2.- Workshops on particular topics,
3.- Poster presentations.

A dedicated space will be set aside for displaying the posters and other documents of the Congress participants and their organisations.

Another of the highlights of the 27th International Congress of CIRIEC is the Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics Centenary celebration, which will take place before the closing session on the 24th.
