The Spanish Social Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES, in the Spanish acronym) established in 1992, is a business confederation at national level with an intersectoral nature that makes it the largest institution representing the Social Economy in Spain, and establishing itself as a platform for institutional dialogue with the public authorities. It represents the interests of more than 51,500 companies. More than 10,700,000 citizens are associated to the different Social Economy Families in Spain, with more than 2,400,000 employees econo  mically related to this sector.

The University of Valencia has a long-standing and prolific teaching and research record on cooperativism and social economy issues. A recent landmark on this path is the creation of IUDESCOOP, the Institute of the Social and Cooperative Economy of the University of Valencia, which, among other projects, has just set up an Ibero-American Observatory of Employment and the Social and Cooperative Economy.

The 15th Flamenco Biennial will take place in Seville from 10 September to 11 October 2008. The 2008 Biennial has the goal of making Seville the place where flamenco is a living badge of identity, as a major project for the city, while also being a festival with a worldwide profile and a reference point for flamenco productions. The objective of FUNDIBES, the Latin American Social Economy Foundation, is to promote the set of companies that make up the ever-widening and increasingly dynamic space of the Social Economy. The principal cooperative and labour company organisations are represented on the Board of this foundation, together with people who have been promoting and studying associative companies for many years. The purpose of FUNDIBES is to promote this type of company in Latin America.

InnovesInnoves Foundation

On July 2007, the Fundación Innovación de la Economía Social, INNOVES, was constituted, promoted by CEPES Andalusia and the Andalusian Federation of Associated Work Cooperative Companies (FAECTA). The INNOVES foundation is intended as the instrument that will respond to the innovation and development needs demanded by the entire Social Economy of Andalusia. One of its objectives is to assist the participation of these companies in the instruments deriving from the R&D plans of the different administrations, and to encourage knowledge transfer between research bodies and Social Economy enterprises.

EAESAndalusian Social Economy School (FEAES)

CEPES Andalucía and FAECTA certified in 2002 the constitution of the Foundation of the Andalusian Social Economy School (FEAES) as an instrument to dynamise the lines of training, investigation and development that were promoted by these organisations in the scope of the Social Economy of Andalusia. The physical space used by the Foundation of the Andalusian Social Economy School is the old Church and Convent of La Merced in the municipality of Osuna.
